Student union threatens school strike next week

The National Student Union threatened on Wednesday night to hold a series of strikes starting next Wednesday if their demands for college funding are not met. The students decided to present Education Minister Yuli Tamir and Finance Minister Avraham Hirchson with the ultimatum following a meeting of student representatives. The demands include a promise to revert NIS 1 billion in funding to institutions of higher learning within two years, as well as some NIS 40 million in tuition for schools that are not subsidized.
