During hol hamoed Succot, traffic patterns are set to change on Jerusalem's streets in order to accommodate the tens of thousands of visitors expected in the capital. Beginning on Wednesday, private cars will not be permitted to enter Jerusalem's Old City. The prohibition will remain in place until Monday, the 24th of October. Parking will be available in the center of the city in Independence Park and next the Jerusalem municipality at Kikar Safra. Lots will also be open across from the Supreme Court and at the Karta parking structure, near Jaffa Gate. Free shuttles to the Old City and the Kotel will run from Karta. On Thursday, 20 October, additional changes in traffic will be in effect due to the Jerusalem Parade that afternoon. Changes will affect Betzalel, Ben Yehuda, King George, Jaffa, Shlomzion Hamalka, and Coresh streets, among others. Construction on the city's roads was halted until after the holiday in order to enable more traffic to pass unhindered.
