Labor MK Yuli Tamir, expected to receive the education portfolio, stated that she hopes to meet with teachers and education professionals, and see what reforms they suggested. "Past years have taught us that one cannot force reform, and that it must be built together with the people who are supposed to implement it," Tamir said in an interview to Israel Radio on Sunday.
In regard to the decision to give Labor Chairman Amir Peretz the defense portfolio, Tamir said that she believed that Peretz would make an excellent defense minister, and that having a civilian in the position is what Israel needs.
