The Temple Mount will be closed to worshippers Monday after security forces received information that right-wing Jewish activists and Muslim worshippers would engage in pre-election confrontations at the holy site.
Beginning in the morning hours of Monday, police will increase security in east Jerusalem and the narrow streets of Jerusalem's Old City in order to prevent provocations, according to Army Radio.
Jerusalem's police chief, Cmdr. Ilan Franco, will decide on Monday as to the level of security police forces will maintain for election day on Tuesday.
