Acting on information from the Tel Aviv Immigration Police, a 50-year-old Turkish citizen who had been residing here illegally since 1994 was arrested on Wednesday.
The man worked as a building contractor and had found a convincing cover story: He dressed as a haredi and lived in Bnai Brak. He told police in fluent Hebrew that he was a religious Jew and loved the State of Israel. After extensive questioning, the man broke down and showed police his Turkish passport.
He was handed over to representatives of the Interior Ministry, who will begin the process of deporting him.
