Turkish plane nearly causes B-G collision

An error by the pilot of a Turkish Airlines passenger jet preparing for takeoff at Ben-Gurion Airport nearly resulted in a collision on Wednesday night, the Israel Airports Authority said.
The incident is being examined by the chief civil aviation investigator.
After receiving an order to line up for takeoff and to halt theaircraft at a certain point, the Corendon Airlines pilot confirmedreceiving the order but continued on toward the takeoff runway, failingto stop at the designated position, the authority said in a report sentto the chief investigator. The same runway had been allocated for alanding by the Romanian Tarom jet.
A control tower operator identified the error and instructed the Taromplane to circle the runway. Had the error not been rectified, theplanes could have collided.
