Two 18-year-olds missing in Dead Sea area since noon

Two 18-year-old hikers have been missing in the Dead Sea area since Tuesday afternoon, police said. A helicopter search crew was conducting searches for the missing. The teenagers were hiking in Wadi Nahal Eshelim with a group of 14 others. The two decided to take an alternative route, saying they would rejoin the group at the end of the trek but failed to appear. Their cellular phones appear to have been switched off. The area around the Dead Sea is considered dangerous in winter because of sudden floods and water-filled ravines. Police searching for the missing boys expressed concern as they are reported to be without flashlights.
