Two Israelis were under arrest for allegedly importing three kilograms of cocaine to Israel from South America, police said Thursday.
According to police, the two men bought the drugs in an unspecified South American country for $15,000 and planned to distribute them in Israel with the help of local drug dealers.
The three kilograms of cocaine could be illicitly sold on the local drug market in Israel in 5,000 portions at NIS 400 each, police said, with the dealers making NIS 2 million for the drugs.
The two suspected drug dealers were remanded in custody Wednesday by the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court for eight days. Police said that more arrests are expected in the case in the coming days.
