Two people were lightly wounded and nine were sent into shock after Palestinian terrorists fired a volley of Kassam rockets at Sderot on Wednesday night. Six rockets landed inside the western Negev town and security forces were trying to locate another four. Earlier, a rocket landed in the backyard of a home in a western Negev kibbutz, causing some damage to surrounding buildings. No one was wounded. In total, some 20 rockets and mortar shells were fired at southern Israel from Gaza on Wednesday. IDF officials said that the Islamic Jihad was responsible for the rocket fire. Nevertheless, the officials stressed that Hamas had proved in the past that it was capable of putting a stop to the attacks and therefore, said the officials, the group bore responsibility for any escalation in Gaza violence, Army Radio reported. Following the rocket barrages, Sderot Mayor Eli Moyal urged the government not to be deluded by the false messages of calm being emitted by Hamas and to act decisively against the group, Israel Radio reported. Also Wednesday, an Israeli was lightly wounded when Gaza gunmen fired at a group of farmers near Kibbutz Ein Hashlosha. IDF officials said the man was treated at a kibbutz medical clinic.
