Vanunu arrested for entering West Bank

Mordechai Vanunu was arrested Friday for allegedly violating his prison release terms by entering Palestinian territories. He was taken to the National Fraud Investigation Unit in Petah Tikva, where he was detained for questioning. He was apprehended as he was entering Jerusalem via the A-Ram checkpoint south of Ramallah. According to Israel Radio, this was not the first time he attempted to cross the green line. Vanunu, a former employee of the Dimona nuclear facility, was imprisoned for 18 years under charges of exposing some of Israel's most confidential nuclear secrets. The police intended to request that Vanunu be brought Saturday night to court to discuss his remand.
