Victims of Deir Yasin massacre remembered in Jerusalem

A memorial marking the anniversary of the Deir Yasin massacre took place on Thursday afternoon in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Givat Shaul. About twenty Israeli citizens, joined by some family members of the massacre's survivors, attended the memorial. Eitan Bronstein, head of the "Zochrot" organization, expressed disappointment over the small number of Jews participating in the event. He called for the right of return for Palestinian refugees to Israel, but said he opposed the notion of returning to the Palestinians the neighborhood of Har Nof, which was built on the ruins of the Arab village, saying, "one nation's exile does not justify putting a second nation into exile." The Arab village of Deir Yasin was attacked after having declared its neutrality in the 1948 War of Independence. Approximately 115 inhabitants were killed.
