W. Galilee may be compensated for weather damages

Agriculture Minister Ze'ev Boim said on Friday that he would request the government to declare the western Galilee as a natural disaster-struck area, and to compensate the residents accordingly for the damages incurred. The region was struck on Tuesday night by what was defined as a "mini-tornado," injuring over 70 people and causing millions of shekels in damages. The agricultural products on the local moshavim appeared to bear the brunt of the storm. Litchie, banana and avocado crops were especially harmed by the strong winds and hail.
