Winograd: IDF believed the 'age of war was over'

The IDF was not ready for the Second Lebanon War, the Winograd Committee's report said. The prevailing thought - prior to last summer's war - was that the "age of war was over," Judge Eliyahu Winograd, the committee's head, said while reading a summary of the 300-page document. The IDF believed it could prevent a "real war," Winograd said, while its ground forces would have to confront mainly ongoing conflicts.
