Yishai reverses decision to remove government control of bread prices

Trade and Industry Minister Eli Yishai (Shas) on Sunday reversed a decision he made last week to remove government control of bread prices, following the announcement of bread manufacturers that the price hike would be steep. "After bakery owners announced that bread prices will rise by dozens of percentile points, and after the ministry looked into a number of alternatives, Trade and Industry Minister Eli Yishai has decided to annul the decision to remove bread from [the list of] prices-controlled [items]," a statement of the Industry and Trade Ministry read.
