Yishai to ask Shas Council of Torah Sages to support early elections

Shas chairman Eli Yishai will present to the Shas Council of Torah Sages next week a proposal calling for the party to support early elections. Yishai told Israel Radio on Thursday that in his opinion, there is no ability for the current parliament to establish another coalition, and that elections are the only option. The Shas chairman emphasized that the proposal for early elections was not connected in any way to the police investigation against Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, but rather derived from the fact that Shas's demand for an increase in child subsidies was never fulfilled.
