Youth movement members to set off on pre-draft Negev bike trip

Members of the nations' youth movements due to be drafted soon will start off Sunday on a four-day bicycle trip through the Negev, Army Radio reported. The pre-draftees will be offered a chance to volunteer before their compulsory military service and will meet with counselors from IDF officers' training courses to discuss ways of making their military service more meaningful. At the end of the trip, participants are scheduled to meet with Israeli and Egyptian troops serving on the Egyptian border, as well as with Noam Schalit, father of kidnapped IDF Cpl. Gilad Schalit, near where Schalit was abducted in a cross-border raid in June 2006.
