Two Jerusalem youths were arrested early Wednesday morning under suspicion that the two tried to blackmail a young haredi woman who had allegedly undergone sexual assault at the hands of her employer.
The woman told a male acquaintance about the assault, and he requested her personal identification number and her phone number.
Police believe, that the acquaintance gave the information to a third party who used it to blackmail the employer by threatening to tell the police and the employer's wife. When the employer did not respond to the threats, the blackmailer reportedly switched his focus to the young woman.
The young woman reported the blackmail to police.
Israel Police told Israel Radio that the two youths who were arrested were already under a house arrest sentence when they allegedly perpetrated the blackmail.
A Jerusalem Magistrate's court judge extended the two youths' remand by two days.
