Berlin's mayor has sharply condemned the desecration of more than 30 gravestones in the Weissensee Jewish cemetery in the German capital.
Berlin Mayor Klaus Wowereit has called for citizens to stand up against anti-Semitism and racism, and urged police to do everything possible to capture the perpetrators.
After the vandalized gravestones were discovered early Tuesday, Wowereit said: "This blatant act of anti-Semitism is detestable."
Police are investigating.
