The visiting leaders of the Jewish American lobby J Street will meet this week with President Shimon Peres, Strategic Affairs Minister Dan Meridor (Likud), opposition leader Tzipi Livni (Kadima), Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.
The delegation of 25 board members and donors, led by J Street president Jeremy Ben- Ami, will also meet with IDF representatives, MKs from several parties, residents of Judea and Samaria, and civil society leaders in meetings in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Sderot, near the Lebanese border, and Ramallah.
A spokeswoman for J Street denied a report in Yisrael Hayom that was based on a printed schedule for the trip and indicated that meetings with Palestinian officials would take place on Holocaust Remembrance Day. She said the group participated in the official state ceremony at Yad Vashem on Sunday night and that no meetings would take place until Holocaust Remembrance Day was over. Yisrael Hayom stood by its story and said the schedule must have been changed due to public pressure following its report.
