Fall is one of Israel’s best kept secrets, with stunning fall foliage from the desert to the northern border. In Israel, the best thing about fall foliage – besides its spectacular beauty – is its longevity.

The climate is moderate and shifts slowly toward colder, wetter weather, making the transition from summer to winter more gradual than in the US, yet in some places just as dramatic as the autumnal color displays in New England.  Here is a selection of photos I shot across Israel, from the Judean Mountains to the Galilee and Golan Heights. Yehoshua Halevi has worked more than 25 years as a professional photojournalist, teacher, mentor and photographer of lifecycle events. His credits include major publications, highlighted by National Geographic, as well as non-profit organizations, corporations and private individuals. He is available for assignments worldwide and his work can be seen and purchased online at Photography by Yehoshua Halevi .
