The city of Haifa has decided to invest NIS 35,000 in an initial effort to save the Martef 10 special cultural center from closure, reports Yediot Haifa. Mayor Yona Yahav has also promised to come up with a plan to save the threatened center, which has operated for more than 30 years in the Hadar neighborhood. According to the report, the donors who have sponsored the center until now recently decided to cut off their funding, leaving the popular venue in danger of immediate closure. But now the city has announced that it will allocate NIS 35,000 to enable it to continue its activities, and Yahav said he would work to come up with a comprehensive plan to rescue it. The city is reportedly considering holding municipal cultural activities at the center to ensure it gets regular funding.
