City wins battle against electricity poles along train lines

The committee said Israel Railways should work with municipal representatives to find an alternative plan for lighting the train lines.

The National Committee for the Preservation of Beach Environments has ordered Israel Railways not to erect electricity poles along the train lines parallel to the Haifa beach, reports Yediot Haifa. The committee accepted the arguments of Mayor Yona Yahav and the Haifa Municipality, who strongly opposed the idea of erecting electricity poles along the train lines, saying they would block the open views of the beach. According to the report, out of 20 km of train lines in Haifa, some 10 km run along the beach. The committee said Israel Railways should work with municipal representatives to find an alternative plan for lighting the train lines.
