Haifa sues authority for road costs

The city says that the ILA has breached the law by not paying its share of the road fees.

Haifa is suing the Israel Lands Authority for NIS 4.6 million over the building of roads in the technological park at the entrance to the city, reports Yediot Haifa. The city has issued a lawsuit in the Haifa district court saying that the ILA has breached the law by not paying its share of the road fees. According to the report, back in October 2001 the city announced that it would build the roads, with the owners of adjoining properties legally obliged to share in the costs. The city says that as one of the neighboring owners, the ILA should have paid its share, but as of January this year it had not done so and its debt now amounted to NIS 4.6 million. The city is asking the court to force the ILA to pay the fee, as well as compensation. The ILA has not yet lodged a defense.
