More than 90 percent of Lotto winners over the past four months have come from the Sharon area, according to the Mifal Hapayis organization which operates the national lottery. As reported in local.co.il, the organization says there have been 23 winners from the Sharon area since July - raking in millions of shekels. According to the report, a series of big Lotto wins has swept the area since July, when three residents of a Sharon area moshav shared a first-prize win worth NIS 6.2 million apiece. In the same week, two other Sharon residents shared the second prize, winning NIS 230,000 each. In subsequent weeks, Sharon residents managed a stunning series of first-prize wins: A Netanya resident won NIS 17 million, a Kfar Saba resident won NIS 12 million, a Herzliya resident won NIS 13.2 million and a Hod Hasharon resident won NIS 4 million. Sharon residents also won large second prizes, with one worth NIS 4 million and another NIS 500,000. Sharon residents were even lucky with other Mifal Hapayis games, such as the 777 lucky number game. Three Sharon residents won some NIS 70,000 in that game in recent months. No possible reasons for the run of luck in the Sharon were suggested.
