Study: Cats bite more than dogs

But at the same time, the survey found that dog bites generally caused more severe injuries than cat bites did.

A study at Haifa's Bnai Zion Hospital has found that cats are more likely to bite their owners than dogs are, reports Yediot Haifa. Doctors studied 115 patients who were hospitalized after being attacked by dogs or cats between 1994 and 2006, and found that 34 percent had been bitten by their own pet cats, while 22% had been bitten by their own pet dogs. But at the same time, the survey found that dog bites generally caused more severe injuries than cat bites did. The doctor in charge of the survey said that while dog or cat bites were "not uncommon" and many might not appear serious, there was a real risk of infection and anyone bitten should see a doctor immediately.
