Seventy yachts from a number of countries converged at the Kishon River's fishermen's wharf recently as part of an international two-month sailing event around the eastern Mediterranean Sea, reports Yediot Haifa. The visitors toured Haifa for several days before re-embarking to continue sailing to their next stop, Ashkelon. The fleet, which began its voyage in Turkey, has stops in Syria, Cyprus, Lebanon, Israel and Egypt. The yachts' well-off owners - each boat is worth an average of NIS 2 million - come from an assortment of countries, including the Netherlands, France, Czechoslovakia, the US and Turkey.
