In an effort to promote local tourism to Jerusalem, 19 of the city's top museums and cultural attractions will be open to the public - free of charge - for the next three Thursday nights, the city said Wednesday.
The special citywide promotion is valid from 8 pm to 1 a.m. on extended Thursday night visiting hours, with city eateries, bars, pubs and hotels also offering Israelis reduced prices on Thursday nights as part of the three week internal tourism campaign.
A recent public opinion poll commissioned by the Tourism Ministry has found that Israel's capital lags near the bottom of a list of preferred local vacation destination sites among Israelis, with northern Israel, Eilat, the Dead Sea topping the list of favorite Israeli vacation spots for locals.
