Ramat Hasharon has twice been fined sums of NIS 4,000 in recent weeks after the Ministry for Environmental Protection discovered sewage leaks from pipes in the west of the city, reports www.local.co.il. The city is blaming a local building contractor for not clearing the pipelines as required.
According to the report, the ministry's "green police" discovered leaking sewage in the Neveh Gan neighborhood after complaints from residents. A local contractor was supposed to clear the pipes but reportedly did not show up, and when ministerial inspectors returned to the scene and found that sewage was still leaking, they fined the city. Deputy Mayor Meir Doron said the fines were being transferred to the contractor to pay.
