A dog owner whose pet leaves droppings on the sidewalk can expect to attract a fine of NIS 650 from municipal inspectors - but it seems the same law does not apply to police with horses, reports http://www.local.co.il.
Residents of Herzliya are complaining that police patrolling the city on horseback are leaving mounds of "souvenirs" behind them, and that neither the city nor the police are doing anything to prevent the phenomenon or to clean it up.
"It is a disgrace that the police, who are supposed to uphold the law, are simply scorning it," one resident said. "I have a friend who was fined NIS 650 by a municipal inspector when she didn't clean up her dog's droppings, but these police allow their horses to do their business on the sidewalks and are not fined. The municipality should also be ashamed of this discrimination."
