Designer stories
Design and literature will meet and blend at the “New Old: Present Continuous Design” exhibition, which opens at the Holon Design Museum on Tuesday (7:30 p.m.). The show will kick off with a tour of the exhibits courtesy of renowned literary editor Maya Dvash.
The exhibition incorporates 70 items, most by designers in their thirties and forties who take their inspiration from icons, symbols and literary works from the past. The exhibition also examines the synergy between new and old in works based on more contemporary expressions of historic and traditional models and forms. The periods and styles included in the show range from baroque to Bauhaus, and the style of the post-modern 1980s Memphis Group.
