2 UN troops in Lebanon wounded clearing minefield

Two Belgian soldiers serving with the United Nations in Lebanon were wounded Monday when one of them stepped on a mine. Belgian defense ministry spokeswoman Ingrid Baeck told VRT broadcast news that the soldiers were clearing an area seeded with cluster munitions at Kunin, 20 kilometers (12 miles) from the southern port city of Tyre, when the mine exploded. Neither were seriously hurt but shrapnel hit one man's leg and another's arm, she said. Both were to be sent back to Belgium within days.
