Two bombs killed six people and wounded more than 40 others in Ahvaz, a city in southwestern Iran with a history of violence involving members of Iran's Arab minority, Iran's official news agency reported.
The bombs exploded inside a bank and outside a state environmental agency building in Ahvaz, the capital of oil-rich Khuzestan province which borders Iraq, the official Islamic Republic News Agency said.
Interior Minister Mostafa Pourmohammadi said the attacks were related to last year's bombings in the city and were foreign inspired.
"Today's explosions are a continuation of the same indiscriminate attacks directed from outside the country," IRNA quoted Pourmohammadi as saying.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad canceled a planned visit to Ahvaz on Tuesday, citing a forecast calling for heavy rain, IRNA reported. The report did not say whether the blasts had any bearing on the cancellation.
Ahmadinejad and his entire Cabinet had been expected to meet in Ahvaz as part of a series of visits to provincial capitals to address key local issues.
