Abbas aide: Chairman may call new elections

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has threatened to dissolve the Hamas-dominated PA government and call for new elections if negotiations over creating a national unity government are not completed within two weeks, Abbas' aides said late Thursday. Earlier reports indicated that Hamas and Fatah had reached an agreement in principle on how to form a unity government. One of the proposals is to form a government of "technocrats" who are not strongly affiliated with either of the rival factions.
