Abdullah: Egypt summit must lead to peace talks

Jordan's king told visiting Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday that an upcoming summit in Egypt must set the stage for renewed Palestinian-Israeli peace talks. Abbas was visiting King Abdullah II ahead of Monday's meeting in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik, which will be attended by both leaders, as well as Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. "The summit must be seized as an opportunity to formulate a clear timeline for a return to negotiations," King Abdullah II told Abbas in a closed-door meeting in Jordan's capital Amman, according to a royal palace statement.
