Activists: Syrian forces kill nine people in Homs

Forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad kill nine people in assault on city.

AMMAN  - Forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad killed nine people in attacks on the city of Homs on Wednesday, activists said.
The dead included two protesters shot dead by pro-Assadmilitiamen, known as shabbiha, in front of the Fatima mosque inthe district of al-Waar after nightly Ramadan prayers, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

Syrian forces killed three anti-Assad protesters Tuesday night in the towns of Deir al-Zor and Homs.
At least three people were killed during a raid on the Bayada district of Homs last Thursday, an activists' organization said, in what was the second day of attacks on residential neighborhoods following night protests.
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 
armored Syrian forces killed at least 15 civilians in a similar assault on the Bab Amro district of the city the day before.
Tanks deployed in Homs three months ago after large protests demanding an end to 41 years of Assad family rule.
Homs, Syria's third largest city, is 165 km north of Damascus.
