Al-Qaida takes credit for suicide attack at US base in Iraq

Al-Qaida's affiliate in Iraq says in a Web posting that it is responsible for Sunday's suicide truck bombing of a US patrol base near the northern Iraqi town of Kirkuk.
The attack outside the gates of the US base killed one US soldier and wounded 18 other Americans.
In the Internet statement, the Islamic State of Iraq - which is a coalition of insurgent groups lead by al-Qaida in Iraq - says that an Iraqi from its Kirkuk Martyrs' Brigade stormed a recruitment center, shouted "God is great" and detonated his vehicle "among a large number of crusaders."
