Beirut: Explosion causes casualties, damage

An explosion rocked Beirut's waterfront Wednesday, causing casualties, damage and fires, police and witnesses said. The body of woman, covered in blood, was seen being pulled away from the seen by local residents. It was not immediately clear if she was alive. A car was on fire where the explosion occurred in the Beirut neighborhood of Manner near two popular beaches. Police had no immediate information on the casualties. The explosion was the latest in a series to hit Lebanon in the last three weeks as Lebanese troops battled Islamic militants in a Palestinian refugee camp in the northern part of the country.
