Blair, Abbas to meet Tuesday in the West Bank

Tony Blair, the new Middle East peace envoy, will hold his first meeting with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday, a Palestinian official said. The meeting will take place at Abbas's headquarters in the West Bank city of Ramallah, said Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat. Blair and Abbas have met in the past, during Blair's term as British prime minister. Last week, Blair made his debut as the envoy of the so-called Quartet of Middle East mediators - the US, the EU, the UN and Russia. Blair is expected to arrive in the region Monday for a two-day visit, and has also scheduled talks with Israeli leaders.
