Bush meets with King Abdullah, opening 2 days of Mideast diplomacy

US President George W. Bush has opened two days of Mideast diplomacy, welcoming Jordan's King Abdullah II to the White House for a brief breakfast meeting. The king arrived and left within the span of an hour Wednesday. The Jordanian Embassy said Abdullah came to Washington at Bush's invitation to discuss negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis, the latest developments in the Middle East and ties between the United States and Jordan. On Thursday, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas is to see Bush.
