Death toll in Baghdad mosque bombing rises to 87

The death toll from Tuesday's suicide truck bombing at a major Shi'ite mosque in central Baghdad has risen to 87, the Iraqi Interior Ministry reported Wednesday. The ministry said 214 others were wounded in the blast, which struck just as worshippers were leaving a midday prayer service at the turquoise-domed Khulani mosque, burying many in the debris. Authorities on Tuesday had reported at least 78 killed in the attack. Police said the bomb, believed the work of Sunni Muslim extremists, was hidden in a truck piled high with electric fans and air conditioners that made its way into the busy commercial district.
