Egypt: Israeli drug smuggler gets 10 year sentence

A court in southern Sinai sentenced an Israeli man, Asaf Yaron Sahnan, to 10 years in prison after he was convicted of smuggling drugs into Egypt via the border crossing at Taba, the London-based Arabic newspaper Al-Sharq al-Awsat reported on Friday. Reportedly, Egyptian police in May seized a copious amount of hashish that was hidden in the Israeli's car, while the man was attempting to cross into Egypt. During the investigation, Sahnan managed to escape from police custody and return to Israel. The Israeli was sentenced in his absence.
