Egyptian FM: We won't cut ties because of movie

Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit told the BBC that Egypt would not "cut off relations with Israel because of a television movie." Gheit was referring to the Channel 1 documentary Ruah Shaked (The Spirit of Shaked), that erroneously claimed that the Shaked reconnaissance unit had killed Egyptian prisoners of war after the Six Day War. The film caused an uproar in Egypt, with officials calling for an investigation and threatening to arrest National Infrastructures Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer - who was a commander in the unit at the time - should he "set foot" on Egyptian soil. On Friday, The Jerusalem Post revealed that the filmmaker, Ran Edelist, admitted mistaking footage of Palestinian fedayeen for pictures of captive Egyptian soldiers.
