Emirates presidents discuss Mideast with Assad

The leader of the United Arab Emirates congratulated Syria's president Monday on being re-elected to a second seven-year term and offered US$100 million (€72.6 million) to build a hospital, the state-run news agency reported. Emirates President Sheik Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Syrian leader Bashar Assad on Monday, holding talks on ways to coordinate between Arab countries to achieve security and stability in the region, SANA reported. Sheik Al Nahyan, who flew in Sunday for a two-day official visit, left Damascus later Monday. He is on a three-nation tour that also is set to take him to Algeria and France.
