By JERUSALEM POST STAFFThe European Union said Monday it has agreed to monitor the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt.
Javier Solana, the EU's security affairs chief, told reporters that a meeting of EU foreign ministers agreed that "we will assume the third party responsibility" at the border crossing. "That has been agreed."
In addition to agreeing that a third-party team will be stationed at the Rafah crossing, Israel and the PA have agreed that the crossing will serve Palestinians with valid identification cards going to and from Egypt to Gaza, as well as VIPs.
