Fatah al-Islam confirms deputy leader killed

The al-Qaida-inspired group Fatah al-Islam, which has been battling Lebanese troops for over two months in a northern refugee camp, confirmed that its deputy leader was killed in fighting some days ago. The statement posted on an Islamic Web site said the group's deputy commander, known as Abu Hureira, had been killed, but gave no details as to the circumstances of his death. Also Wednesday, the Lebanese army announced that two more soldiers have died fighting Fatah al-Islam in Nahr el-Bared.
