Fatah officials call on PA chair Abbas to resign

Several officials in Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah Party called on him to resign and dissolve the Palestinian Authority to protest Israel's raid of a West Bank prison earlier this week, party officials said. The raid, in which Israel seized the assassins of Israeli cabinet minister Rehavam Ze'evi, was seen as a humiliating blow to Abbas' prestige and raised new questions in Fatah about their president's ability to govern, especially following Hamas' landslide victory in January's Palestinian Legislative Council elections.
