Gaza: Four dead in Hamas-Fatah clashes

Rival factions trying again to reach an agreement on unity government.

The number of combatants dead in clashes Wednesday between Fatah and Hamas loyalists in Beit Hanoun has risen to four, Israel Radio reported. According to earlier reports, Fatah and Hamas militants waged a fierce gun battle in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Hanoun, ion which at least three people were reported wounded. The violence came as the rival Palestinian factions tried again to reach agreement on forming a national unity government. Violence first broke out in Beit Hanoun overnight and a new gunbattle erupted Wednesday afternoon between Fatah and Hamas loyalists. The three wounded were taken to the hospital. Violence between Fatah and Hamas has killed more than 60 people since last spring.
