Gunmen have killed a Yemeni soldier and injured seven others in attacks against two military checkpoints, a security official said Saturday.
The official said authorities suspected al-Qaida was behind the attacks because the assailants employed tactics often used by the terrorist organization. He said the gunmen opened fire with machine guns before dawn Saturday and then followed with rocket-propelled grenades.
