Hamas was hoping to conclude a deal to return to Israel the kidnapped IDF Cpl. Gilad Schalit, Israel Radio reported Friday overnight.
A Hamas spokesman said the movement saw a connection between the return of Schalit and the successful establishment of a unity government in the Palestinian Authority.
The spokesman said, however, that even if a deal regarding the return of Schalit was not reached, talks regarding the unity government would succeed.
