Hamas has completed preparation plans to counter an expected IDF invasion of the Gaza Strip, the military wing of the Islamic organization announced on Monday. "The areas in the Strip that the Israelis are used to entering without resistance are full of surprises," Abu Oviada, a spokesperson for the group told the London-based newspaper Al-Hayat. He added that Hamas has internalized the mistakes of the past, and armed itself with top-of-the-line weapons. Oviada also commented on recent IDF operations in Gaza, saying that Israel has succeeded in destroying only one percent of the group's Kassam rocket launching capacity. With regards to Iran, the spokesperson confirmed that Hamas is in constant contact with the Islamic state, as well as with Hizbullah. While he denied that either Iran or the Lebanese guerilla group were training Hamas operatives, he added that is the group's right "to use any means in [its] power to strengthen [its] military capabilities, and it is [Hamas's] prerogative to acquire guns and training from all available sources." Speaking about the economic sanctions which were imposed on Gaza following Hamas's violent takeover last June, the spokesperson warned that it could lead to war. "The sanctions are pushing citizens into the street. It will ignite an all-out war against Israel," Abu Oviada said.
